Objectives

Main Objective

Facilitate the access of local weather data by the weather modelers, Uganda National Meteorological center and other developers who may require to use this data in developing their applications.

Specific Objectives

  • To implement an API that provides an abstraction of the Weather Data Repository (WDR) in JSON format.
  • To develop an application that access data through the API from the WDR, formats it from JSON to TDCF and send the data to the Entebbe NMC message switching system through emails or SMSs.
  • To develop an application that uses data from the API formats it to Little_r format and sends the data for weather modelling and assimilation.

The API Applications

An Application that uses the API to provide weather observation data in the suitable ASCII file format required by modelers in data assimilation shall be implemented immediately after releasing the API on market. Another application to develop after the release of the API on market is one that shall use the API to send weather in Alphanumeric format understood weather communication officers data to the NMC Automatic Switching System.
